An Investigation into the Decline of CD sales

The graph in the post below shows how the music industry's roots of revenue are changing. This is due to the easily accessible option of downloading music which we now have. Although this graph is dated back to 2008 it shows the trend which has increased and developed over the last few years causing trouble for artists, producers and record companies. This has pushed artists to have more live performances in order to keep bringing in the cash, which is better for the artists themselves as they retain such a large percentage of the money due to ticket sales.

This chart shows how the purchase of CD's (the blue line) has been decreasing rapidly, and the purchase of music online both of albums (the green line) and single downloads (the red line) has been increasing. Particularly the use of single downloads. This chart represents how the way music is being listened to and bought is rapidly changing, causing trouble for the producers, record companies. This is also due to other aspects such as illegal downloads.
